The Astro 010 Brushless Motor has the latest advances in hi-tech, Samarium Cobalt magnets in the motor and two digital surface mount microprocessors in the controller. The Astro 010 planetary motor is small. It's is only 0.98 inches in diameter, 1.50 inches long and weights only 1.75 ounces. This is quite a bit smaller than the Speed 300 style motor that is designed to replace. The Astro 010 brushless motor can handle a maximum of 75 watts, twice the power of a speed 300 ferrite motor. The 801P is designed for the light weight park flyers. The speed controller has two 4 MHz microprocessors, one for the decoding of the radio receiver signal and one for controlling the electronic commutation of the motor. Actual commutation is done by a six phase MOSFET bridge using six tiny surface mount MOSFETs. The bridge can safely handle 10 amps continuously. It is recommended to choose battery pack and blade pitch that limits the static current draw to a maximum of 7 amps at full throttle. The entire control is very small measuring 0.95 inches by 1.2 inches and 0.125 inches thick, and weights 1.5 ounces. It is recommended to use APC 9x6 Slow Flyer Prop.
